CNN reports that a cheerleader aka “Raiderette” for the Oakland Raiders has sued the team because “her pay of $1,250 for the season… was less than $5 per hour for appearances at games, rehearsals and charity events.”
3 Questions That Arise From This Story
1. Was there a rehearsal when the clocks moved back for daylight savings time? For those of you looking for jobs outside the cheerleader industry, remember, getting paid for zero hours for one hour’s work is always a raw deal, especially if the job is cleaning up vomit in a bar where people have an extra hour to drink before last call.
2. Is she using the stadium game clock to keep track of time? She might be working even more hours than she realizes!
3. What charity events do cheerleaders appear at? Given the lawsuit, any “Help Raise Awareness For Low Paid Cheerleaders” event would be ironic, and potentially worsen the cause.
Guess she didn’t read the fine print on her contract.

Perhaps she was distracted by Raiders representatives dressed like post-apocalyptic road warriors. Who has time to read under those circumstances?
