Red Lobster Slayin’ After Beyoncé Song Lyric

Business Insider reports that Red Lobster’s sales increased 33% on Super Bowl Sunday, a day after Beyoncé released her song Formation, which makes reference to Red Lobster.

From the article:

“We had no idea Beyoncé was going to give us that amazing shoutout,” Red Lobster CEO Kim Lopdrup told Business Insider in a phone interview.

Let’s look at the lyrics in question:

“When he f**k me good I take his ass to Red Lobster, cause I slay
When he f**k me good I take his ass to Red Lobster, cause I slay…”

So now Red Lobster has sales up, and other people reportedly boycotting Red Lobster because they apparently think Red Lobster is responsible for a Super Bowl performance that doesn’t even use the lyric.  Since everyone has an opinion, here are:

3 More Opinions We’d Expect To See From This Story.

  1. “Finally a celebrity shoutout for us ignored lobsters in the tanks at Red Lobster… oh look, a hot-tub!” – a whole lot of lobsters.
  2. “Did someone just consume the entire cast of the Finding Nemo sequel before the release later this year?! Thanks-a-lot all-you-can-eat Seafood Festival!” – Disney CEO Bob Iger
  3. “Today was the Super Bowl? I should have never made my evening plans based on a song about a restaurant with barnacle decor instead of walls of TVs!” – Red Lobster Super Bowl patrons
