Sporting News reports that Toronto Blue Jays (former) General Manager Alex Anthopoulos has won its award of “Baseball Executive of the Year.” Anthopolous, whose contract was set to expire this weekend, resigned today, reportedly because a new contract offer would no longer allow him to have final say on player personnel moves, but rather let new team President, Mark Shapiro have final say on such decisions.
3 Slogans We Propose For The Blue Jays Based On This Story
- “When we ask you to use the hashtag #ComeTogether at the start of the season, we didn’t really expect the team to come together. Enjoy our new hashtag #BreakThisTeamTogether.”
- “Our President knows more than Sporting News, and Totally Won’t Look Like A Fool If We Don’t Do As Well Next Year.”
- “Meet our new GM. It’s a GM vehicle. It won’t talk back to the team’s President unless its navigation system is telling him there is a traffic jam ahead.”
