Finally, An Edible iPhone Case…

CNN reports that a company called Japan Trend Shop is selling a handmade iPhone 5 case made of rice and salt for $81.

Or more accurately, was selling, as the case is currently listed as “sold out” on the company’s web site.

And while some may laugh, if you drop your iPhone in a lake, some tech sites recommend placing it in rice, so this case could conceivably provide a minute amount of protection for your phone, if the next time you visit your cottage if the birds don’t peck the case and screen first (while ironically playing Angry Birds on the touch screen, and topping your high score.)

3 More Materials We’d Like To See Protective iPhone Cases Made Of

1. Microsoft Surface plastic keyboards. The convenience of a keyboard makes it less likely you’ll want to touch or damage a screen! But more likely that you’ll wonder why you bought a touch screen tablet if you were going to use a keyboard in the first place.

Since Microsoft does not have an edible case, perhaps shoppers at this Times Square store will head to the nearest Sbarro or Tad's Steaks to create their own!

2. Band-aids. CNN suggests that the edible case is for emergency, in case of a zombie apocalypse, but we believe if zombies are biting you, high-fiber snacks may not be your primary concern.

3. Mile-long bungee cords. Something has to prevent this phone from hitting the ground if America goes over the fiscal cliff.
