ABC News reports that Chipotle Mexican Grill apologized this morning for offensive Tweets posted from its Twitter account, which also included a Tweet suggesting that all restaurants would close by the end of the year.
In 2013, Mashable reported that Chipotle admitted to faking the hacking of their account with non-offensive tweets as a publicity stunt.
3 Questions That Arise From This Story
1. Can someone hack Chipotle’s menu to add a side dish that is not chips? Perhaps some rice.
2. Did someone just hack this blog by not attempting to put a joke in paragraph one above? Answer: yes, this is the worst promotional stunt since Chipotle pretended to hack its own Twitter account years ago.
3. The real question is do opinions from Chipotle’s account represent its employer? We just assume that since so many people put in their bio “My opinions are my own,” that we do not know who owns opinions any more in the Twitterverse unless someone explicitly tells us.
